China Unicom Europe Marks 20th Anniversary in London with AI and Mid-Autumn Showcase

LONDON, Sept. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — China Unicom Europe celebrated its 20th anniversary and hosted a Mid-Autumn product showcase in London. About 110 guests, including executives from leading European and UK companies, telecom operators, mobile business customers and partners, attended the event to explore AI-driven digital opportunities and international cooperation.

Han Xing, General Manager of China Unicom Europe, reviewed the company’s journey since it established a presence in London in 2006. Over two decades, the company has built multiple institutions and sales support offices across Europe, expanding from basic network connectivity to cloud computing, data centers, computing power and AI solutions. A Tencent Cloud representative presented Workbuddy, an intelligent agent designed to improve office collaboration. Dr. Niels Peter Thomas, CEO of BMJ Group, shared practical experience in sustainable digital transformation in publishing amid the AI wave, offering cross-industry insights.

The event also combined frontier technology with Chinese culture. Eight interactive zones allowed guests to experience AI drawing games, smart AI photography, intangible cultural heritage lacquer fans, bamboo woven coasters, snow-skin mooncake making and traditional folk games, offering an immersive taste of Mid-Autumn culture and Chinese heritage.

China Unicom Europe said the anniversary marks both a review of 20 years of overseas growth and a new strategic start.
