Regarding the announcements, Aflac Incorporated Chairman and CEO Daniel P. Amos said: “These leadership announcements are the result of the long-term and deliberate succession planning process and coordination overseen by Aflac Incorporated’s Board of Directors to ensure we have the right people in the right places at the right time. President of Aflac Incorporated Virgil Miller and I agree that the strength of our leadership bench is also a testament to the strong foundation created by Charles Lake and Masatoshi Koide, whose leadership has had a tremendous positive impact on Aflac Japan and across the Aflac organization.”
Miller added: “Shinsuke Morimoto has been with the Company for nearly four decades in positions of leadership across key areas, from Claims and Sales to Corporate Planning and Strategy. He has played a vital role in developing Aflac Japan’s mid-term strategy and transforming Aflac Japan’s marketing and sales organization and human capital management system. I am excited about the results Shinsuke has delivered and confident that his deep understanding of our business, culture and strategy will help lead Aflac Japan successfully into the future.”
Miller went on to say: “Fred Simard brought more than 30 years of insurance experience when he joined Aflac U.S. in 2023 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was then promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer of Aflac U.S. in 2025 and to deputy president of Aflac U.S. in early 2026.
